He recalled that the tyrants of Europe built huge, imposing castles in order to intimidate the peasents. Disney wanted his castle to be friendly, so it was built on a smaller scale. When you are walking through the castle away from the statue, and you pass under the Disney Family Seal and you walk a few more steps until youe almost out of the castle, look down and there's a gold spike (survey marker) in the ground.
