Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Triporia?
Triporia.com is an online video sharing community that gives travelers the ability to research world wide destinations through video clips filmed by people who live there and by travelers who have visited the destination.
How do videos get featured?
Featured videos are directly assigned by the website Administrator. A user cannot assign a featured video, as this would result in every user featuring their own videos and bloating this way the relative content pages of the website. However, a user can ask from the Administrator to feature a video, using the appropriate function in the “view video” page.
How does a member log-in to the Triporia site?
The member has to input the username and password they used, during their registration process. Then the site uses cookies, together with PHP Sessions, to determine if a user is logged-in and to keep them logged-in, while they browse the site. The session of the member ends when they click on the “Logout” link or when they close the browser window.
Do I have to confirm my e-mail address when I register for a member account at a Triporia?
Yes, this is required.
What happens if I lose my password?
You can use the “forgot your password” link, found on the sign-up and log in page of the site. A new password will be sent to your e-mail address so you can login. Then, you may change this password to a new one, by editing your profile.
Can't the site just send me my old password?
No, because the password is stored in the database in encrypted format, so it can't be retrieved. The password is only sent once to you, by e-mail, during your registration process.
I'm sure I remember my password correctly, but I still can't login to Triporia!
In this case, your browser may have “cookies” disabled. You should enabled cookies in your browser. If the problem persists, use the feedback form of the website, to request help.
Can I change my username?
No, the username cannot be changed in a user's profile. Anything else can be changed. However, if you change your contact e-mail, you may need to re-activate your account using a link that will be sent to you at your new e-mail address.
If I upload a video, will the video be posted immediately on a Triporia?
No, All videos must be reviewed by our team before they will be made public, this is to screen for inappropriate content. This approval process can take up to 48 hours but for the most part is executed daily. When a member uploads their video they can view it as soon as the video is converted by clicking the link that is provided on the upload success page (video conversion takes place behind the scenes and can take time depending on the size of the video so your video may not play right away, give it a few minutes and check back). With that being said, your video will not appear in your profile until it has been approved by our team.
What are "tags"?
“Tags” are keywords or key-phrases, assigned to videos. The purpose of tags is to help describe or identify a video. Tags help you label videos you upload so that other people can find them more easily.
